Pokemon Go, Bitmoji and Ikea Place unlock augmented reality (AR)! What about Infanion?
In this blog we spent some words on one of the hot trends in tech right now: augmented reality (AR)!
What is augmented reality (AR)?
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that allows you to furnish superimposed digital information on a real time view of the actual physical environment around you. It is called augmented reality (AR) because it ‘augments’ or enhances the real-life view for the user. To put it simply, it is a technology that uses a real time environment to give an interactive experience with upgraded perception.
Examples of augmented reality (AR)?
Pokemon Go, Bitmoji! Ring any bells? They are real augmented reality (AR) equipped world sensations!
- Bitmojis are the cartoon avatars that people can create for themselves which also allowed the users to project images as well as actions like dancing hotdogs through the device camera.
- Another impressive example of augmented reality (AR) is Pokemon Go. An augmented reality game that drove people of all ages to run around playing and looking for Pikachu and other Pokemons.
Other wonderful examples of augmented reality (AR) are the Google augmented reality (AR) stickers, the Ikea Place app, and the L'Oréal Makeup Genius app.

Check out these awestruck applications of augmented reality (AR) in today’s time.
Microsoft’s Hololens take on augmented reality (AR) combined with virtual reality (VR), called “mixed reality” essentially because of multiple sensors, advanced optics, and holographic processing. It can be used to display information, blend in with the physical environment.
Google Glass is a wearable voice and motion-controlled Android device that easily resembles a pair of glasses that displays information directly on the user’s field of view. It is based on visual, audio, and location-based inputs.
The Apple ARKit is a combination of motion tracking, camera capture, and advanced scene processing for iOS devices, enabling developers to create augmented reality (AR) apps.
And what about Infanion and augmented reality (AR)?
Ah, that’s a simple question: we are on it and developed already a first augmented reality application for one of our customers making use of AR.js combined with Node.js.
